Week 4/52 - Nothin sweeter than summertime

Hard to pick just one phrase from this song - you really need to listen to the whole thing.
Spent the weekend in Fairbanks, Alaska and spent some time with a dear friend on the Chena River where this was taken.  It worked out perfectly because we had just been listening to this song on the road and were humming it on our way down to the water.
These are the days I'm going to wish I could go back to.

she grew up on the side of the road
where the church bells ring, and strong love grows
she grew up good, she grew up slow
like American honey

steady as a preacher, free as a weed
couldn't wait to get going, but wasn't quite ready to leave
so innocent, pure and sweet
American honey

3/52 - Safe

oh no, my walls are gonna break
so close - it's more than I can take
I'm so tired of turning and running away
when love just isn't safe.

This is one of those turn it up and sing at the top of your lungs with the windows down songs.
Especially on one of those days where you're extremely aware of how quickly and deeply you fall in love with people.
It's so, so scary and sometimes so, so painful.
And so out of your hands.

It's also a good time to remember that His love IS safe.  You can rest in it.
You can trust in it.  It is shelter.  It is consistent. It is powerful.

His love is worth the risk.

Traveled down to the Eagle River campground - which is full of memories - with a dear friend and relaxed and enjoyed the peace before snapping a few photos and reluctantly driving away from the  beauty.

Claire & Sammi

Fun with two of the most beautiful people I know.  I happen to be biased, as one of them is my dear cousin/sister I never had, and the other is her best friend.
We fit like three peas in a pod.
This day, we traveled to a waterfall and found daisies and laughed. a lot.

Week 2/52 - Minnesota Sunset

 I see this beautiful world
and it brings tears to my eyes
and I think,
it's beautiful to be free

The photo on top is a flashback to a month or two ago here in Alaska.  It just fit perfectly for what I wanted to express with this week's lyrics.

The photo on the bottom fit too -
it's a Minnesota sunset.
Took that one on the drive back from a perfect day of road tripping with two amazing, beautiful people whom I love dearly.  You'll be seeing more of them soon ;)

And the world turned

Girl stood on the rocks with the water at her feet
the sun on her skin and a tear on her cheek
With her hand on her chest and the wind in her hair
Underneath her breath like a beggar's prayer she said

I miss you, come back to me
I wish you'd come back to me
But nobody heard
And the world turned and the world turned and the world turned
And that's when the girl reached in her pocket
pulled out a silver heart-shaped locket
Opened it up and stared for a while at her faded boy
with a lazy smile, oh how

I miss you, come back to me
I wish you'd come back to me
But nobody heard
And the world turned and the world turned and the world turned

This shoot has been at the drawing board for so long and it finally came into being.  And it's beautiful.
The inspiration came from from the song "And the World Turned" by the Gabe Dixon song, which I was introduced to by Anna of A.C. Photography.  Our creatively inclined minds instantly started envisioning lovely dresses and rivers...each in our own way.  She assisted me on this shoot, and I will be assisting her on her upcoming shoot.  We both have such different perspectives - I'm super excited to see what she comes up with, and you should be too!

The lovely model is Emily Renner, hair and makeup done by myself.

p.s. I know her happy face towards the end of the post doesn't quite fit with the story, but how can you NOT post such a gorgeous smile?
